What's Up With Wendi

Most of you probably know I'm not what you would call a Barbara Walters fan. Ok, that could be the understatement of the year. She has never ever, not even once showed anything but a liberal bias in everyone of her shows. If someone can find one quote to prove me wrong, please do. So needless to say I was a little concerned when I heard she was doing a special on Heaven. And good old Barby didn't let me down.

One thing I laughed out loud at was the only two people she showed as having a "purist" view on Heaven, i.e. if you didn't believe what they thought then you were not going to Heaven, was the Islamic Terrorist and the evangelical Christian. The parallel couldn't have been drawn any clearer if she had come out and said "Christians and Terrorists both close minded religions and should both be abolished." She was clearly showing that Christians were just as bad as the radical Muslims because we both condemn non-believers to hell. Well, yeah, but we don't generally help 3000 of them get there in one day like they do. But, one thing that she couldn't change was the look on the face of Ted Haggard when he is answering the question of whether non-Christians are going to Heaven. You can see a clear look of compassion on his face. I have yet to see the same concern on any Islamic Terrorists face.

In Ladies Home Journal she says that""There were things that . . . Amused me like the whole business of the 72 virgins who are created for men." Ok... Barby is "amused" by the Islomoterrorist that kill people. Yeah, I can see how that would be "amusing" Oh, wait... I was thinking of tragic not amusing... My bad.

Barby then makes the false comparison of Christianity as a sexless religion to the 72 virgins in heaven for Islam. Huh? She seems to forget that there's that little step of mass murder before Heaven. "And in the Christian religion, the idea is to have a pure life that's happy and content without sex. According to Islam expert Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, sex for Muslims is part of the joy of heaven." Ok, now I am no expert on Christian sex, but I think most of my married friends would disagree with the idea that to be a good Christian you have to live a contented life without sex. What was that part of the Bible about be fruitful and multiply... Oh wait.. We should be cloned to multiply right?

So, needless to say, I was not happy with the show, nor was I surprised. Oh well, so's life.

Just one question.

Wow, it's bee a long time since I have blogged... and lots to talk about but today is going to be short. I will blog more tomorrow, but today I just have one question. Barbara Walters is doing a special tonight called "Heaven: Where Is It? How Do We Get There?" Does this frighten anyone else? I'll blog my opnions on it tomorrow when I see it.
